The LPKF ProtoLaser 200 is a sophisticated laser system, capable of producing ultra-fine structures with an unequalled precision at unbeatable speeds. The result is a rapid PCB prototyping solution that's perfect for the fine precision geometries demanded by RF, microwave, RFID, antennas, filters, etc.

Precision microwave and RF PCB prototyping
Manufacture precise microwave and RF circuits using the LPKF ProtoLaser 200. Laser structuring applies to nearly any substrate, from FR4 to PTFE and Alumina (AL2O3), and in traces as narrow as 50 µm with isolation paths as small as 25 µm. Laser structuring happens in a fraction of the time of physical milling.

Copper structuring directly by laser
The LPKF ProtoLaser uses a focused infrared laser beam to isolate the circuits in the copper layer and to produce large rubout areas between the traces. This method is much more precise than physical milling machines for RF and microwave circuits, and much more rapid. Depending on the thickness of the copper layer, areas can be rubbed out as rapidly as 6 cm2 per minute. The LPKF ProtoLaser's superior performance and speed make it an ideal component in any engineering environment requiring on-demand small-series rapid PCB production.

Fiducial recognition and alignment system
Precision of alignment for opposite sides increases tremendously with the fiducial recognition camera. This camera allows the ProtoLaser 200 to visually inspect the workpiece and properly align the work.

LPKF Software
The advanced capabilities of the laser-based PCB direct structuring is only possible with the addition of LPKF's advanced CircuitCAM PCB and CircuitMaster control software. In addition to preparing the data for the ProtoLaser 200, CircuitCAM allows the user to make minor on-the-fly changes to the layout, another way to save time in a fast-paced rapid protoyping environment. CircuitMaster controls the fabrication process in real time.

Clean operation
The LPKF ProtoLaser 200 is extremely clean. An efficient dust extraction and filtration system removes all milling and drilling debris, as well as evaporation as a result of the laser.

Accessories

LPKF dust extraction system
The LPKF dust extraction system, complete with a 1 µm activated charcoal filter, keeps the work area clean and free of debris of all sizes.

Software

The LPKF ProtoLaser uses the CircuitCAM/CircuitMaster software package to import and process data, and to control the laser structuring of work pieces. CircuitCAM imports a variety of file types, including Gerber® Standard (RS-274-D), Gerber® Extended (RS-274-X), DBF (Barco), Excellon® NC Drill (versions 1 and 2), Sieb & Meier NC Drill, DXF, HP-GL™, and ODB++. CircuitMaster controls the fabrication process in real time, driving the ProtoLaser's laser system.
