LPKF’s development to satisfy the extreme precision and performance requirements of current state of the art circuit boards has produced a large range of high performance precision cutting tools. These tools are custom designed for LPKF and made of 100% top quality micro-grain carbide resulting in significantly longer tool life, precise cuts, and diminished drill flux. The proprietary designs and extreme geometric tolerances are accomplished with extensive testing and design reconfiguration until the highest quality results are met. LPKF’s leading commitment to quality and performance is an ongoing research and development process to continually suit the user demands and approaching technologies.

We recognize that in-house PCB prototyping requires custom designed tooling to get the job done and that standard industrial carbide tools don’t fulfill the quality demands needed for undistorted circuit performance.

For ease of use and to minimize the set-up time, LPKF tools come in two different lengths: 36 mm (1.42“) for tools working on the surface milling bits and endmills) and 38 mm (1.5“) for tools that work through the material (drill and router bits).

Micro cutter

  • 60° "V" shape cutter
  • Adjustable cutting width from 4-6 mil (100 -150µm)
  • Recommended for 1/2 oz. Cu clad (18µm) or less
  • 60,000 rpm motor required

Universal cutter

  • 90° "V" shape cutter
  • Adjustable cutting width from 8-12 mil (200 -300µm)
  • For milling insulation on any type of base material
  • LPKF custom design for maximum performance and tool life
 
RF Endmill

  • Top hat micro milling tool with 150µm (6 mil), 250µm (10 mil) or 400µm (15.7 mil) diameter
  • 60,000 rpm motor required
  • Cuts straight side walls with minimum substrate removal
  • Manufactured with extremely tight width tolerance (+/- 0.2 mil or 5µm) for top circuit performance
  • Custom flute design for unsurpassed tool life

 
Endmill (Rubout Cutter)

  • Top hat milling tool for rub-outs and wide insulations
  • Custom stub design for superior lifetime and extreme feed rates
  • Engraving of aluminum front panels
  • Available in 31 mil (0.8 mm), 39 mil (1 mm), 79 mil (2 mm), 118 mil (3 mm) diameter
Drilling / Routing tools
<1.5" overall length (38 mm)
 
Drill Bit

  • To drill circuit boards and other materials
  • Custom made short flute (0.2") for tools of 1.3 mm and less to minimize drill flux without using entry material
  • >0.15 mm (6 mil) to 3 mm (118 mil)
  • 2.95 mm (116 mil) and 3 mm (118 mil) to drill registration pin holes

 
Contour router

  • Routes inner and outer board contours
  • Routes large holes without size limitation
  • Available in 39 mil (1 mm), 79 mil (2 mm), 118 mil (3 mm) diameter

 
Endmill (long)

  • For cutting break-outs in aluminum front panels and to mill clean contours in soft RF substrates
  • Also to mill pockets in brass and aluminum backed substrates or to mill enclosures
  • Available in 39 mil (1 mm)), 79 mil (2 mm) diameter
